Newtown Square PA Reminders:

Earlier this week, I had the chance to stop by the Newtown Square Township offices and wanted to pass on these reminders from the township:

Recycling continues to be a hot topic and recycling is mandatory in Newtown Township.  All paper, glass, plastics, and metals must be recycled.  The collection schedule remains the same.  Pickup for those areas east of 252 and north of West Chester Pike will be on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month.  The balance of the township will be on the first and third Thursdays of the month.  All items should be placed out the evening before or by 7:00 am that morning - any questions call Allied Waste on 610-205-5400.  In Delaware County, there are four hazardous waste collections Hood Octagonal School 1842 - Newtown Square Pennsylvaniascheduled: Marple Transfer Station - March 28, the Emergency Services Training Center - April 25, Covanta Delaware Valley - September 19, and Rose Tree Park - October 8.  On April 25 and October 8, they will also be accepting TVs and Computers.  Delaware County's Compost Farm will now be open the 3rd Wednesday of each month through September.

The Planning Commission and the Zoning Hearing Board continue to have a full plate.  Generally, the Planning Commission meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM and the Zoning Hearing Board meets on the third Thursday of each month also at 7:30 PM.  The largest developments continue to be the former DuPont Estate/Ashford and the BPG Town Center Project.

The township office is open daily from 8:30 until 4:30 Monday through Friday.  The adjacent Newtown Public Library is open 10-9 Monday through Thursday, 10-5 Friday and Saturday, and 1-4 Sunday (except for July & August).  The Poetry Competition deadline for submissions is March 13.  As summer approaches, if you need to reserve a park, field, or the Gauntlett Center, please call Marple Newtown Recreation to reserve as soon as possible to be sure the dates are available.  Also remember that discount ski lift and movie tickets are available at the Gauntlett Center - call 610-353-2326.

As always, do not hesitate to contact the Township Office located at 209 Bishop Hollow Rd, Newtown Square Pennsylvania, 19073 with any questions or phone 610-356-0200.  If I can be of any help, feel free to contact me anytime David Henke 610-618-0808.
