Welcome to the North St Station on the SEPTA 102 Trolley Line in Collingdale PA.
The North Street Station on the SEPTA 102 Trolley Line is the first stop in Collingdale as the Trolley runs from the 69th Street Terminal to Sharon Hill. This is a small local stop located at the intersection of Woodlawn Ave and North St. It is also the end of the dual line tracks with only a single track continuing the line into Sharon Hill.
The station itself has a small shed on the northbound side for waiting passengers. It does not have any dedicated parking but is a great stop for local commuters and is within easy walking distance of much of the local community. The area is largely residential with limited commercial activity across from the station on Woodlawn and some stores one block further east on Clifton. The video will provide a better feel for the area:
Collingdale itself has a nice mix of single family homes, twins, and row homes throughout the area. The commercial activity is largely centered along Macdade Blvd running along the southern portion of the borough. For more complete information on Collingdale be sure to check out the recent blog: "Collingdale Borough PA History & Homes".
The North Station is a convenient local commuter stop on the SEPTA 102 Trolley providing easy access to Sharon Hill and the 69th Street Terminal and convenient connections to other regional SEPTA bus, trolley, and rail lines.

David, That is a very interesting post. I've always liked trolleys and using it as the center piece of your description of the area is a great idea.
David - Just a question (or two or three) ... I am Looking at adding a video camera to use as you have done here for uploadin to YouTube ... do you shoot and the upload direct or do you edit then uplaod ... the most important question what type/model of camera do you use and how easy is it to use and are you pleased with it
Gary - Thanks - I'm slowly but surely covering the county.
Kathy - I'm using the Flip for the video and the basic Microsoft Movie Maker software to edit it before adding it back to YouTube. Works great. Try Mike Mueller's old post for step by step instructions.
Kudos on embracing the wave of the future- video blogging. Did you have a script or did you just "wing it"?
I'm afraid I just "wing it" - it can end up with some unusual commentary but you can always do another take!
Good luck and enjoy!
Raleigh NC, Hillsborough Street project is revamping - it's the home of NC State University and my son is involved with reorganizing the planning to include bike lanes (do you believe they planned this in a college town WITHOUT bike lanes??)
But, they dug up old trolly tracks a couple of weeks ago! And they're going to preserve them. History of Raleigh.
I think we've got to send some city council members north! I grew up in the Philly area and there are days that I miss being there too much!
Soft pretzels, real Italian Ice, REAL pizza, sausage, kielbasi, and chees steaks - the real deal, made like they're supposed to be made! YUM.
Thanks for the post!
Nellie
p.s. GREAT video!
Thanks. You've got to take some time to visit and enjoy! (with the city council members)
